Wanichko, Bearcats first at PAC Championship

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 29) - Senior Kevin Wanichko won the individual title by just under nine seconds with a time of 26 minutes, 37 seconds, and the Saint Vincent men's cross country team repeated as league champions at the 2011 Presidents' Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Westminster.

With his individual championship, Wanichko claimed PAC Men's MVP honors and head coach Dr. Andrew Herr earned PAC Coach of the Year honors as the Bearcats swept the conference awards.

As a team the Bearcats finished first overall with a total of 35 points. Thiel finished second with 70 points and Grove City captured third place with 76 points.

A total of seven SVC runners earned All-PAC honors, highlighted by three first-team selections and two second-team honorees. Sophomores Chansler Poole and Andrew Razanauskas finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with times of 27:23 and 27:24 to join Wanichko on the first team.

Senior Ryan Barlow crossed the finished line in 12th place with a time of 27:55 and junior Cameron Stumme finished in 13th place with a time of 27:58 as both Bearcats earned All-PAC Second-Team honors.

Senior Joshua Hooke earned All-PAC Honorable Mention with his 17th-place finish, which came in 28:36. Freshman Eric Porter joined Hooke as an honorable mention with his 21st-place finish, which he completed in 28:53.

SVC returns to action in two weeks, Saturday, Nov. 12, traveling to Center Valley, Pa., to take part in the NCAA Regional race.
