Bearcats finish ninth at regional race

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (Nov. 12) - Behind a 16th-place finish from senior Kevin Wanichko, the Saint Vincent men's cross country team finished in ninth place out of 47 teams at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships, hosted by DeSales.

Haverford, the second-ranked team in the country by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, won the race with 52 points behind three top-ten finishers. No. 6 Dickinson was second with 129 points and No. 33 Allegheny finished third behind the individual champion, junior Bobby Over.

Wanichko paced the Bearcats on the afternoon with his time in the 8K race of 26:06. Sophomore Andrew Razanauskas placed second on the team and 53rd overall in the field of 328 runners, finishing the race in 27:05.

Senior Ryan Barlow and junior Cameron Stumme were the next two finishers for SVC, posting 63rd and 71st places, respectively, with times of 27:17 and 27:25. Freshman Eric Porter rounded out the scoring with a 127th-place finish in 28:22.

Senior Joshua Hooke and sophomore Chansler Poole rounded out the competitors for SVC, with times of 28:44 and 28:59 apiece, good for 152nd and 164th places.
