Bearcats finish third at PAC Championship

After a solid final round team performance, the Bearcat men's golf team took third at the 2011 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship held at Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, PA.

As a team, the Bearcats shot a team score of 304, the lowest second day total of eight participating squads.  Overall, Saint Vincent turned in a two-round score of 629 to finish just two strokes back of second-place Thomas More and nine strokes behind champion Washington & Jefferson College.

Individually, Steve Fiori followed his opening-round score of 79 by firing a 75 on the second day to tie for fourth individually and earn a spot on the All-PAC First Team. 

Fiori was one of three Bearcats to finish in the top 11, as teammate Sam Cline took eighth with a two-day score of 156 (77-79) and Derek Lingafelt tied for 11th by firing a 158 (83-75).  Rounding out the Bearcat participants, Matt Bryan tied for 24th with a two-day score of 164 (88-76) and Owen Bartok took 27th (165/87-78).  Cline was a second All-PAC performer for the Bearcats, as his eighth-place finish placed him on the All-PAC Second Team. 

With a two-round score of 620, Washington & Jefferson took the team title, paced by Tyler Fewell, who took second individually after shooting 149 (72-77).  Brandon Dulle of Thomas More College was the individual champion, topping Fewell by one stroke after shooting 75-73.

The PAC team championship is determined by a 72 hole total, 36 at the PAC Fall Championship and 36 at the spring event.  In the fall event, the Bearcats carded a team score of 647, with the team's four-round total of 1276 taking third overall. 

Washington & Jefferson ended in first with a 72-hole total of 1,233, followed by Thomas More (640-637-1267), SVC, Grove City (636-644-1280), Westminster (652-637-1289), Thiel (670-629-1299), Bethany (689-662-1351), and Waynesburg (705-658-1363).
