McGrath, Women's Tennis to be honored by YWCA



GREENSBURG, Pa. (March 28) - Saint Vincent senior women's basketball player Devin McGrath as well as the women's tennis team will be honored at the 2013 YWCA Westmoreland Sportswomen of the Year Banquet on April 11.

The event, which will be held at the Greensburg Ramada Inn and Conference Center, is scheduled to run from 6-8:30 p.m., and is open to the public. Admission for adults is $32 while student admission is $20.

McGrath, a four-year starter on the women's basketball team is being honored as the Sports Woman of the Year for excellence in a team sport. A native of Robinson Twp., Pa., and a graduate of Our Lady of Sacred Heart High School, the 5-9 forward was a three-time All-Presidents' Athletic Conference selection, including being named First Team each of the last two seasons.

This season, she ranked first in the PAC in rebounding this season at 10.3 rebounds per game. The only player in the conference to average a double-double, McGrath finished fourth in the league in scoring at 16.1 points per game.

McGrath finished her career 10th on the all-time women's basketball scoring list, pouring in 1,387 points in 113 games, an average of 12.3 points per game. Additionally, she hauled in 875 rebounds (7.7 per game), while also registering 332 steals (2.9 per game), 272 assists (2.4 per game) and 109 blocks (1.0 per game).

The women's tennis team earned the Committee's Choice award after securing the first conference championship in program history after an unbeaten 14-0 regular season and 9-0 in conference play. SVC shared the conference tournament title, but gained entrance to the first NCAA Tournament in program history by way of a regular season victory over fellow conference co-champion Westminster.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Dr. Chris McMahon, the Bearcats team was made up of seniors Jessica McKetta, Chantal Mitchell and Stephanie Rubin, junior Amanda Gans, sophomores Kylie Auman and Regina Woloshun and freshmen Jacquelyn Hauser, Hannah Kahn, Shayla Landman and Amanda Marker.
