Saint Vincent College junior
Brittany Sedlock has been named to the 2011 d3hoops.com Women's Basketball All-America Team.
Sedlock, a native of Northern Cambria, PA and graduate of Northern Cambria High School, was a Fourth Team selection to the squad, which was selected by a panel of sports information directors from across the country. The All-America award was the latest in a string of honors for Sedlock, the 2011 Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Year, who was also a First Team All-Region selection, First Team All-PAC, First Team All-District in the Capital One Academic All-America program, and two-time PAC Player of the Week.
Sedlock finished the season second in the PAC in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game, while she led the league in rebounding, averaging 9.0 per game. She also finished among PAC leaders in steals (87 – third), field goal percentage (.468 – fifth), and free throw percentage (.719 – eighth). A model of consistency throughout the season, Sedlock scored at least 10 points and grabbed six or more rebounds in all 29 games, turning in 11 double-doubles. She scored 19 or more points 11 times, including five 20-plus point performances, while she grabbed at least 11 rebounds eight times, totaling 262 boards for the season, just three shy of the school's single-season record set in 1992 by Lisa Jobe.
Sedlock led the Bearcats to a 24-5 record in 2010-11, as they qualified for the NCAA Division-III National Tournament for the first time in program history, and were ranked in the top 25 nationally for all but two weeks of the season.
The junior becomes the 15th All-American in program history, and the first in any sport at Saint Vincent since the school was granted full eligibility in NCAA Division-III this past August. The last Saint Vincent women's basketball player to receive an All-America accolade was Kristen Lancas, who was a Kodak All-American following the 2003-04 season.
