The National College Baseball Writers Association has named Saint Vincent freshman Max Henry the National Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 25th-May 1st.

It marks the second honor of the week for the Latrobe, PA, native, after he was previously named the Pitcher of the Week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Henry, a graduate of Greater Latrobe High School, went 2-0 in two games for the Bearcats.  In Monday's victory over PAC foe Bethany, the lefty entered the school record books by striking out 13 batters, the most in school history in a seven-inning game, en-route to the 4-1 complete game win.  He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and ended the day with a line of one run, two hits, two walks, and 13 K's to earn his first collegiate victory.

He followed the performance against Bethany with another strong outing at Franciscan on Friday.  Henry came on in relief in the second inning, and finished by throwing 4 2/3 innings of shutout baseball, allowing two hits with five strikeouts in the Bearcats' 7-5 come-from-behind win.

Henry has now allowed just six earned runs in his past eight outings, spanning 19 innings, and on the year, he has 38 strikeouts against just nine walks in 24.1 innings pitched, with a 4.81 ERA.

He becomes the first athlete in Saint Vincent history to receive a national player of the week honor since the school became an official NCAA Division-III member in September 2010, and he is the first Bearcat baseball player to earn a national award since Brian Jackowski was named the NAIA Pitcher of the Week in April 2001.

Henry is the second Saint Vincent pitcher to receive the weekly honor from the PAC this season, following teammate Paul Kubeja, who was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week on March 28th.
