The Lady Bearcats won their second game in a row, defeating Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Thiel College 2-0 in Greenville, PA.
Saint Vincent got things off to a fast start, with freshman
Tenesha Corrales scoring her second goal in as many games to give the Lady Bearcats a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the game's seventh minute.
The two teams then played evenly for the rest of the first half, each tallying five shots, and the game went into the intermission with the Lady Bearcats clinging to the one-goal lead.
The score remained tied until the 73rd minute, when
Elyse Togliatti, who entered the game 20 seconds prior, scored her second of the season to give the Lady Bearcats some insurance.
For the game, SVC owned a slim 12-11 advantage in shots, but the Lady Bearcats were granted five corner kicks to Thiel's one.
Kirstie Mills played all 90 minutes in goal and made five saves to record the shutout victory. On the opposite end, Thiel goalie Jill Harry made seven saves in a losing effort.
The victory improves SVC's record to 3-6-3 overall, and 2-1 in the PAC, good for a share of second place. Thiel drops to 2-10 overall, and 0-2 in the conference.
The Lady Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, hosting Waynesburg University in PAC action on the Saint Vincent Turf beginning at 4pm.
