2025-26 Requirements for Athletic Participation

SICKLE CELL TESTING (NCAA REQUIREMENT!)

All new incoming student-athletes (freshmen and transfers) will need to upload their sickle cell trait test results into the SWOL forms.

View the NCAA policy on sickle cell trait testing at this link.

  • Each athlete is required to have a yearly physical examination and athletic screening prior to any participation in Saint Vincent intercollegiate sports. This must be preformed after June 1.
  • Physicals are performed by the athlete's primary care physician prior to uploading the completed form.
  • Athlete must complete and/or update information at www.swol123.net (instructions can be found by watching the video found here).
  • Athletes must have proof of current health insurance coverage in order to participate in intercollegiate sports at Saint Vincent College.
  • Completed forms (Forms A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) must be electronically signed in SWOL. Form E, along with a copy of front and back of current health insurance card, must be uploaded to the proper location in SWOL.
  • Athlete Insurance and Emergency Information Form (Form A) must be electronically signed by athlete and parent prior to submitting to accurate information. Parent signature is required even if student is 18 or older.
  • If you have a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD, complete the Medical Exception Form for ADD/ADHD found on www.swol123.net.
  • Athlete with a recent surgery, illness, or injury and was/is under the care of a medical specialist, please include a written release to participate in athletics from that specialist. Any surgery in the past year will require a clearance from your surgeon.
  • Athletes WILL NOT be allowed to participate in any athletic competition or practice until their athletic screenings are complete and all information is on file in the athletic training office.
  • The final decision on physical qualification or reasons for rejection is the responsibility of the Saint Vincent College team physician(s).
  • The team physician(s) and/or athletic training staff also make the decision on when an athlete may return to competition after an injury and what treatment will be administered.
If you are an out-of-state athlete, contact your insurance company for out-of-state coverage. Student Affairs also offers insurance at an additional cost.
