Penn State-Altoona scored three second half goals to defeat the Lady Bearcats 3-0 on the Saint Vincent Turf.
The Lions, defending champions of the Allegheny Mountain Conference, kept a constant pressure on the Lady Bearcat defense, owning a 35-3 advantage in shots for the game.
Saint Vincent freshman goalie
Cassie Overly, in her first career appearance, went the distance in the net, finishing with 14 saves. In the first half, PSU-Altoona controlled possession for nearly the entire 45 minutes, out-shooting SVC 19-1 and taking six corner kicks. SVC's defense stood its ground, however, keeping the game scoreless at halftime.
The Lions got their first goal of the day just a minute into the second half, with Meredith Waters knocking in a loose ball in front of the net following a corner to make the score 1-0. PSU-Altoona added onto its lead 10 minutes later, as Nikki Supsic knocked home a rebound from the doorstep, before the Lions closed out the day's scoring in the 75th minute, with Marlee Hibbs lofting a blast into the upper corner of the net from well over 30 yards out.
The Lady Bearcats (0-4-1) will return to action on Wednesday evening, traveling to Frostburg State (MD) for a 7pm match.
