WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 12) - The hosts scored 12:24 into the second half as the Saint Vincent women's soccer team fell to Waynesburg, 1-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match.
Waynesburg's Taylor Bombalski scored the eventual game-winner at the 57:24-mark on an assist from teammate Susie Godwin to put the Yellow Jackets ahead, 1-0.
On the evening, Waynesburg out-shot SVC, 13-9. Freshman
Elly Colvin paced the Bearcat offense with three shots (two on goal), while sophomore
Monika Derboghossian added two shots (both on goal). The Yellow Jackets also had a slight edge on corner kicks, 5-4.
Senior goalkeeper
Kirstie Mills suffered the loss despite recording nine saves in the match. Waynesburg's Katrina Kelly made five saves in the shutout.
With the loss, SVC drops to 5-7-1 on the season and 1-3-0 in PAC action. Waynesburg improves to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, when they travel to Bethany, W.Va., for an 11 a.m. PAC-match against the Bison.
