SVC downed by Baldwin-Wallace, 3-0

Baldwin-Wallace used two late first-half goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime before adding an insurance goal mid-way through the second half to defeat the Saint Vincent women's soccer team, 3-0, at George Finnie Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets scored just 104 seconds apart as the first half wound down to head into the break with a two-goal advantage. Mid-way through the second half, the hosts tallied their third goal of the game to bring the game to its final margin.

On the game, the Bearcats were out-shot, 19-5, and took five less corner kicks, 6-1. Five different players recorded shots for SVC with junior Catherine Czapski and sophomore Monika Derboghossian tallying the only shots on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Kirstie Mills suffered the loss in goal, allowing two scores in over 65 minutes and recording two saves. Sophomore Cassie Overly finished out the game between the pipes and allowed one goal and made two saves. Prior to tonight's action, Overly had not faced a shot in more than 130 minutes of action this season.

Saint Vincent falls to 4-4-1 on the season while Baldwin-Wallace improves to 6-3-0 in 2011.

The Bearcats open up Presidents' Athletic Conference play this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Westminster for a 3 p.m. match-up.
