The Saint Vincent Bearcats lost to Washington & Jefferson College on the road in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.  The final score was 40-14.

After SVC stopped the Presidents on their opening drive, Dan Wirkowski returned a punt 38 yards to the W&J 23 yard line.  The Bearcat drive stalled and Morgan Porter's 46-yard field goal attempt was partially blocked, keeping the game scoreless.

Dan Wirkowski then intercepted a pass on the next drive, but once again the Presidents' defense held.

Later in the quarter, after SVC stopped W&J on a fourth-and-goal, Matt Deakins connected with Ryan Crawford on first down for an 81-yard gain, but on a third-and-goal play, Deakins' pass was tipped by a defender, bounced off his intended receiver, and into the hands of John Hunter for an interception, keeping the score 0-0 after the first quarter.

On the first possession of the second quarter, Eric Eberle hit a 36-yard field goal to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.  After a Bearcat punt, the Presidents scored on a Matt Bliss 5-yard run near the midway point of the quarter to make it 10-0.

Later, after SVC failed to convert on a fourth down play, the Presidents put together a 7-play, 68-yard scoring drive, capped by a Bliss 15-yard touchdown run to make the score 17-0.

The Bearcats fumbled the second half kickoff, setting up a Bliss 7-yard pass to Brandon Trefelner that made the score 24-0 early in the third.  However, the Bearcat offense then went to work, with Deakins hitting Wirkowski for 36 yards, followed two plays later by a Crawford 33-yard run to the 2-yard line.  Crawford then scored on the next play to make it 24-7.

W&J quickly drove down the field, but Bliss threw a pass that was intercepted by Dwayne Brown at the 3-yard line, and he returned it 97 yards for a score. 

However, the hosts then came right back with a score of their own to make it 31-14, and later added another touchdown plus a safety on a blocked punt.

Dion Wiegand led all rushers in the game for W&J with 168 yards on 26 carries.  Shane Smith, who came on in relief of Bliss, carried the ball 17 times for 115 yards.  For the Bearcats, Crawford had 14 rushes for 68 yards. 

Crawford also had 90 yards receiving on four grabs, while Matt Duffey caught 4 passes for 74 yards.

Deakins was 14-of-28 through the air for 196 yards, while Andy Borgen was 1-2 for 52 yards.  Bliss was 16-29 for 155 yards for the Presidents.

Renny Larue-Holloman had 15 tackles for SVC, while Jovaughn Johnson added 10 and Nick Revis had 9. 

Saint Vincent is now 0-7 overall, 0-5 in the PAC.  W&J improves to 6-2, 5-1 in the conference.
