Women's soccer suffers first PAC loss at Geneva, 3-0

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 3) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team suffered it's first Presidents' Athletic Conference loss of the season, dropping a 3-0 decision at Geneva.

With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 8-2 on the season and pull even with a 1-1 mark in PAC play. The loss also marks the first of the 2012 campaign for SVC against an NCAA Division III school. Geneva improves to 5-5-1 this year and is also 1-1 in the conference.

The Golden Tornadoes opened the scoring at the 9:54-mark with a goal by Risa Tillman. Heidi Mann added goals in the 25th and 77th minute to give Geneva the 3-0 victory.

SVC held a slight 13-11 edge in shots, but Geneva held the advantage with seven shots on goal compared to the Bearcats' six.

Junior Monika Derboghossian and freshman Meghan Smith led the team with three shots apiece while junior Jennifer Kisner, sophomore Abbey Neish and freshman Emily Johns chipped in a pair of shots each.

Junior Cassie Overly saw her scoreless streak snapped at 195:55 after allowing multiple goals in a game for the first time this season.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 6, visiting Washington & Jefferson in a 1 p.m. PAC match.
