The Grove City Wolverines defeated the Saint Vincent Bearcats by a score of 27-10 on Senior Day at Chuck Noll Field.

Grove City put together a solid drive on its first possession after partially blocking a punt, driving to the Bearcats 9-yard-line.  A fumble by quarterback Brian Pell, recovered by Dwayne Hewitt, gave SVC the ball.

Late in the first, the visitors once again put together a lengthy drive, with Shane Kaclik scoring from three yards out on the first play of the second quarter to put the Wolverines in front, 7-0.

Saint Vincent then responded with a 16-play, 72-yard drive, with the key play coming on a screen pass from Matt Deakins to Ryan Crawford on third and 10.  Crawford managed to elude the defense and picked up 12 yards to keep the drive alive.  Morgan Porter later kicked a 22-yard field goal, making the score 7-3.

However, the Wolverines answered right back, with a Kaclik four-yard run into the end zone capping a 59 yard drive, making it 14-3.

Early in the third quarter, Pell connected with Khalil Ervin on a 40-yard scoring pass to make it 21-3, and after a Saint Vincent punt, Grove City drove 57 yards in seven plays as Kaclik ran for his third score of the game to make it 27-3.  Darius Brown blocked the extra point attempt for the Bearcats.

In the fourth quarter, Manny Speal came in at quarterback and drove SVC to the Grove City 15, but Joe Diani intercepted a pass in the end zone to end the scoring threat.

With less than a minute left, SVC got the ball back, and Kevin Corona's "Hail Mary" pass into the end zone was tipped then caught by Juan Hernandez for the Bearcat touchdown.  Steven Scherer added the extra point to end the scoring, 27-10.

Andy Borgen led Saint Vincent on the ground with 13 rushes for 56 yards, while Alex Romah had a pair of carries for 14.  Deakins was 10-25 through the air for 87 yards, while Speal was 4-10 for 39 yards.  Corona was 2-for-2 for 34 yards and a touchdown.

Matt Duffey caught six passes on the day for SVC for 63 yards, while Ryan Crawford had three catches for 34.

For Grove City (5-4, 3-4 PAC), Kaclik carried 25 times for 109 yards, while Pell was 9-15 through the air for 180 yards and a touchdown.  Tony Britt was his favorite target, catching four passes for 69 yards.

Defensively, Jovaughn Johnson and Renny Larue-Holloman each had 9 tackles and shared a sack, while Ryan Schmid had an interception for the Bearcats.

Jason Ferguson led the GCC defense with 11 tackles.

Saint Vincent is now 0-9 on the year, 0-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.  The team will wrap up the season next weekend at Bethany College in the annual "Green Game."
