The Waynesburg Yellow Jackets defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 35-14 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener at Chuck Noll Field.

Both teams played evenly through a quick first quarter, nearly matching each other on the statistics sheet, with neither team scoring.

Early in the second quarter, Waynesburg quarterback Tyler Fatigante got his offense moving with a 20-yard pass to Adam Moses.  Moses made a one-handed, highlight-reel grab at the Bearcat 5-yard-line, and two plays later he caught a three-yard touchdown pass to put the Jackets in front, 7-0.

However, the Bearcats quickly tied the game, as Darius Brown took the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown with 10:50 remaining in the second quarter.

The visitors then put together a 12-play scoring drive, with Fatigante providing the big play, a 19-yard run to the Bearcat 1-yard-line, followed by a quarterback sneak that made it 14-7.

On their next possession, the Bearcats were forced into a three-and-out, and Josh Pomilio's punt attempt was blocked by Waynesburg's Andrew English.  The Jackets then took possession at the SVC 22, and it only took three plays for Fatigante to throw his second touchdown pass of the game, a 13-yarder to Bernie Thompson in the front corner of the end zone.

Up 21-7, Waynesburg added to their lead on their first possession of the second half, with Fatigante connecting with Christian Jackson for a 13-yard touchdown pass that made it 28-7 at the 8:35 mark of the third quarter.

Early in the fourth, after forcing the Bearcats to punt out of their own end zone, Waynesburg got a 32-yard punt return from Jackson.  Punter Mark McCracken stopped Jackson at the 1-yard-line, but Dominic Moore scored two plays later to extend the lead to 35-7.

Late in the fourth, Bearcat quarterback Matt Deakins threw a long pass that was caught by Lazaro Garcia, who then broke free from a tackler and went the rest of the way, completing an 80-yard touchdown play, to end the scoring.

On the day, Waynesburg led in most statistical categories thanks to a big edge in time of possession:  39 minutes to 21 for the Bearcats.  The Jackets gained 206 yards on the ground, compared to just 35 for Saint Vincent.  Moore was the game's top rusher with 17 carries for 101 yards.  Ryan Crawford led the Bearcats with 9 runs for 38 yards.

Fatigante was a solid 14-for-15 on the day, for 138 yards and three touchdowns.  Moses was his favorite target, catching 7 passes for 72 yards.

For SVC, starter Manny Speal was 8-14 for 69 yards, while Deakins was 5-9 for 109.  Andy Borgen was 3-3 for 21 yards.  Bearcat quarterbacks were sacked a total of four times on the day.

Matt Duffey had seven catches for 48 yards for SVC.

Defensively, Nick Revis had 9 tackles on the day, while Renny LaRue-Holloman had 7 for Saint Vincent.

Saint Vincent is now 0-3 on the year while Waynesburg is 3-0.  Next week, the Bearcats will be on the road for the first time this season, traveling to New Wilmington for a 7PM game at Westminster College.
