The Saint Vincent women's soccer team defeated previously unbeaten Pitt-Bradford by a score of 2-1 on the SVC Turf.
Bearcat goals were scored by
Abbey Neish and
Meghan Smith.
SVC took a 1-0 led in the 12th minute when Neish recorded her first goal of the season. The two teams played out the first half with the Bearcats leading 1-0.
At the 80:34-mark, freshman
Emily Johns found Smith on a corner kick that Smith headed in for the first collegiate points for each. Pitt-Bradford scored its only goal just over seven minutes later when Andrea Gundlach scored on a direct kick.
Pitt-Bradford held a slight 10-9 edge in shots, while both teams attempted three corner kicks.
Junior
Cassie Overly earned the win, making two saves while playing the entire 90 minutes.
SVC returns to action with a home game against Franciscan (Ohio) on Sunday, Sept. 9. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
