BOX SCORE
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 22) - Senior
Jennifer Kisner broke a scoreless tie in the 86th minute to send the Saint Vincent women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.
With the win, the Bearcats improve to 8-6-1 this season and 3-2-1 in the PAC. The Golden Tornadoes drop to 4-11 overall and 1-5 in the league.
Kisner's first goal of the season came at the 84:59-mark and was assisted by classmate
Monika Derboghossian. Just 50 seconds prior, senior
Lindsey Daniels had a header on goal that was saved by Geneva goalkeeper Anna McMullen off of a corner kick by sophomore
Emily Johns.
The two teams played a pretty even first half with each team recording six shots and one corner kick, but the Bearcats were able to capitalize on one of their nine second-half shots, while Geneva failed to convert any of their 13 shots in the final 45 minutes. The hosts held a 19-15 edge on shots for the game.
Johns posted a team-high six shots (two on goal) with freshman
Brittany Schaller adding three and Kisner tallying two shots.
Senior goalkeeper
Cassie Overly posted her sixth shutout of the season (12th of her career), matching her total from 2012 and putting her one shy of the single-season school record of seven by Jessica Urban in 2007. Overly made eight saves in 90 minutes.
McMullen made seven saves in the tough-luck loss for the Golen Tornadoes.
SVC returns to action on Friday, Oct. 25, hosting Bethany at 4 p.m. on the SVC Turf in a PAC match-up.
