WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 8) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team allowed three first-half goals en route to a 4-0 loss in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Washington & Jefferson's Alexandre Stadium.
The loss evens the Bearcats' mark in league action at 1-1 while dropping SVC to 6-5 overall. The Presidents mirror SVC with a 6-5 overall record and 1-1 mark in conference play.
The hosts scored in the 15th, 21st and 36th minutes to open up a 3-0 lead through the first 45 minutes. W&J added an insurance goal in the 63rd minute to post the eventual 4-0 final.
For the game, W&J out-shot SVC, 17-8, thanks to an 11-5 margin in the first half. Junior defender
Ally Panzella was the lone Bearcat to record multiple shots with two on the evening. Panzella also saved a potential goal in the first half on defense.
Senior goalkeeper
Cassie Overly allowed all four goals while making three saves in 79:12. She gave way to freshman
Meghan Lyden who made a pair of saves in the final 10:48.
SVC returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, with a 6 p.m. match at Westminster in PAC play.
