BETHANY, W.Va. (Oct. 25) - Behind two second half goals from freshman
Kenan Ruffner, the Saint Vincent men's soccer team defeated Bethany 3-1 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Bethany took an early lead in the first half when Ryan Power scored unassisted in the 25th minute. SVC bounced back to tie it later in the first half when junior midfielder
Constantine Barlamas tallied his first goal of the season in the 32nd minute. The Bearcats would take a 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute when Ruffner buried a shot from 25 yards out after taking a pass from
Kevin Proctor. Ruffner then added an insurance goal in the 85th minute of action to push the Saint Vincent lead to 3-1.Â
The pair of goals by Ruffner now makes him the Bearcats leading goal scorer on the season with six. Proctor continues to lead the PAC in assists with 10. Freshman
Sam Hayward started in net, collecting five saves and allowing one goal in 70 plus minutes of work. Senior goalkeeper
Eric Houghton then came on to work the final 19 plus minutes, making no saves and allowing no goals. Saint Vincent held a slight shot advantage of 22-to-19.Â
Saint Vincent now enters the final week of the regular season with a 6-12 overall record and a 2-4 conference mark. The Bearcats host Grove City on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The match is set for 3 p.m.Â
