BOX SCORE PHOTO GALLERY LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 7) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team fell behind early and couldn't mount a comeback, falling 3-1 to visiting W&J in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.
The Presidents (5-5-1, 1-1-0) scored first in the 19th minute when Mariah Lockard knocked home a shot after gaining control of a rebound. That was the lone goal of the first half. W&J padded its lead when Tatiana Ruzzini scored a pair of goals during a stretch of the second half. Her first goal came in the 54th minute and the second in the 68th minute.
Saint Vincent responded in the 71st minute with a goal by senior midfielder
Abbey Neish, who tallied her first of the season after a securing a pass from junior
Meghan Smith, and knocking it past the W&J goalkeeper. However, the Bearcats (1-10-0, 1-1-0) could not draw any closer, as both teams did not score the rest of the match. W&J held a 19-to-9 shot advantage for the game, including an 11-to-5 advantage in the second half.
SVC will host Westminster on Saturday, Oct. 11 for another PAC match. The contest will serve as Senior Day for the Bearcats. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
