SVC falls to Frostburg State in season opener

BOX SCORE

The Saint Vincent women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at home against Frostburg State to open the 2014 season.

Frostburg held the advantage through the early part of the game, keeping the ball in the Saint Vincent end of the field.  The Bobcats were unable to score until the 28th minute, when Erin Worthman sent a shot into the lower left corner of the net for what would prove to be the game winning goal.

The remainder of the first half was evenly played, but the visitors came out strong to start the second half, with Worthman again providing a goal to the lower left corner, this time off a breakaway.

Frostburg outshot SVC by a 21-5 margin for the game, with Meghan Lyden saving 7 shots in her first career start in goal.  Katie Smith had two saves in the shutout win.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday at 4PM, hosting Dickinson College on the SVC Turf.
