PHOTO GALLERYLATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 12) - Despite scoring their first goal of the season, the Saint Vincent women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to the visiting La Roche Redhawks.
La Roche took an early lead when Alex Rogers scored in the 6th minute of play. Rogers then added another score in the 53rd minute to give the Redhawks a 2-0 advantage. Saint Vincent answered with a goal of its own when junior
Meghan Smith found the back of the net in the 82nd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. From there, SVC had a few more opportunities to tie the match but just fell short.
Despite the setback, the Bearcats (0-5) outshot their opponent for the first time this season. SVC tallied 14 shot attempts including 10 in the second half. La Roche (2-0-2) recorded 11 shots in the match. Smith had a team-high four shots, while Rogers attempted a match-high seven shots. Sophomore goalkeeper
Meghan Lyden played all 90 minutes in goal, taking the loss and recording two saves.
