The SVC men's soccer team lost a 2-1 decision to Penn State-Altoona in the final non-conference tilt of the season in a game played in the rain on the SVC Turf.
After the teams battled to a scoreless tie at the end of the first half, the Bearcats got on the board in the 62nd minute, when defender
David Kost scored his first collegiate goal. Kost's shot was initially stopped, but the wet ball spun away from the keeper into the net, putting SVC in front 1-0.
The lead was short-lived, as a foul inside the box less than 2 minutes later resulted in a penalty kick for Altoona, and Seth Murelle scored into the lower left corner of the net to tie the game.
In the 80th minute, after a red card left the Bearcats playing one man down, Murelle sent a ball past the SVC defense to Jordan Crist, who made a move and beat SVC keeper
Jon White for what would prove to be the game-winning goal.
Altoona out-shot Saint Vincent by a 23-12 margin on the day.
The Lions improved to 6-1 with the victory, while SVC dropped to 1-9-1 on the season. Conference play begins on the weekend, as SVC hosts Thomas More at 2:30PM on Sunday, October 4.
