The Saint Vincent men's soccer team opened its season with a 3-2 loss on the road to Alfred State in day one of the Frostburg State Tournament in Maryland.
The Bearcats got on the board first, with
Zach Kocak scoring off an assist from
Nick Gaudy in the 10th minute of play. Â However, Alfred State scored just five seconds later, blasting a shot from midfield that found the net to tie the game, 1-1.
Alfred State added a pair of goals in the 19th minute, just 38 seconds apart, to take a 3-1 lead at the half.
Saint Vincent dominated play in the second half, outshooting Alfred State 8-1, but managed just one goal, an unassisted score by
Scott Luthy in the 50th minute. Â
Ryan Zidek took the loss in the net, making two saves in the first half. Â
SVC will face tournament host Frostburg State in day two of the tournament. Â Â
