The SVC women's soccer team earned its first victory of 2016 with a 2-1 win over Mount Aloysius College on the road in Cresson.

Saint Vincent fell behind in the 17th minute after a Mounties goal, but the team came back quickly.  Jackie McCarthy scored an unassisted goal just over six minutes later, and the teams went into the halftime break tied, 1-1.

In the 74th minute, the hosts were called for a foul inside the 18 yard box, resulting in a penalty kick.  Alexandra Piampiano then placed the game winner in the net.  From there, SVC keeper Melissa McCarthy and the defense were strong, as SVC went on to the win.

Melissa McCarthy had 7 saves, as Mount Aloysius outshot the Bearcats by a 12-10 margin for the afternoon.

With the win, the Bearcats are 1-0-1 on the season and will host La Roche College on Friday (September 9) at 2PM on the SVC Turf.
