The SVC women's soccer team earned its first victory of 2016 with a 2-1 win over Mount Aloysius College on the road in Cresson.
Saint Vincent fell behind in the 17th minute after a Mounties goal, but the team came back quickly. Â
Jackie McCarthy scored an unassisted goal just over six minutes later, and the teams went into the halftime break tied, 1-1.
In the 74th minute, the hosts were called for a foul inside the 18 yard box, resulting in a penalty kick. Â
Alexandra Piampiano then placed the game winner in the net. Â From there, SVC keeper
Melissa McCarthy and the defense were strong, as SVC went on to the win.
Melissa McCarthy had 7 saves, as Mount Aloysius outshot the Bearcats by a 12-10 margin for the afternoon.
With the win, the Bearcats are 1-0-1 on the season and will host La Roche College on Friday (September 9) at 2PM on the SVC Turf.
