LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 12) - Thomas More used three second half goals to down the Saint Vincent women's soccer team 3-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play in Latrobe.
The Bearcats played right with the visiting Saints for the first 45 minutes, as the game was scoreless at halftime.
After containing the Saints for a portion of the second half, the Saints struck first with a goal from Shaye Isaacs in the 63rd minute. Ashley Maples helped Thomas More double its lead with a score in the 71st minute. TMC added a third goal when Morgan Beare scored off a pass from Maples in the 73rd minute.
TMC out-shot SVC by a 21-3 margin in the contest, including a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal. TMC also had seven corner kicks to just one for SVC.
Junior Calsey Holshue registered two shots, while senior
Michaela Lavy had the other shot. Junior goalkeeper
Corinne Burk made nine saves in 90 minutes of work in goal.
With the loss SVC drops to 1-10-1 overall and 1-3 in the PAC. Thomas More stays unbeaten in league play, moving to 9-3-1 overall and 4-0 overall.
Saint Vincent travels to Westminster College on Saturday, Oct. 14. Start time is slated for 8:30 p.m. in New Wilmington, Pa.
