The Bearcats came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory on Senior Day over visiting Bethany College, as a freshman stole the show with the game-winning goal.
Frank Singer scored on a diving header after a long cross into the box by
Mark O'Grady in the 67th minute, giving SVC a 2-1 advantage which the team held through the final 23 minutes.
The win allowed the Bearcat to finish the season on a high note, finishing the year at 4-13-1 overall, 1-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.Â
Both teams traded possessions throughout much of the first 20 minutes, with only one shot being recorded in that time. Â However, in the 24th minute, Bethany's Danny Booth sent a cross into the box and Luis Arteaga booted it home to give the visitors a 1-0 lead, which they carried into the halftime break.
Just over six minutes into the second period,
Ian Garay sent a pass through the defense, and
Zach D'Amico sprinted past his defender, received the pass, and chipped it over a sliding Bison goalkeeper into the net, tying the game, 1-1.
Fifteen minutes later, O'Grady and Singer teamed for what would prove to be the game-winner, and nearly did it again less than 2 minutes later, but the Bethany keeper made a diving save off the second Singer header.
Bethany outshot Saint Vincent 13-8 for the game, but SVC held the edge in shots on goal, 8-7. Â
James Antonoplos made six saves en route to the win.
The Bison finish the season with a record of 8-9-2 overall, 2-4-2 in the PAC.
