ALLIANCE, Ohio (Dec. 8) - The Saint Vincent swimming teams earned wins over non-conference competitor the University of Mount Union. The women won by a score of 136-126 and the men pulled out a narrow victory by a margin of 132.5-129.5.
The women had a strong start in the meet by winning the 400 medley Relay. The quartet of
Sarah Sheldon,
Kelly Kramer,
Maddie Bartrug, and
Ciara Lewis clocked in with a time of 4:08.35
Kramer led the women's team by claiming three individual victories on the night. Kramer took first in the 50 Breaststroke, touching the wall at 32.45. The senior won the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:31.64. She finished the meet up winning the 100 Individual Medley, touching the wall at 1:02.78.
Lewis put together a strong performance against the Raiders, winning the 50 and 100 Free with times of 25.18 and 55.77, respectively.
Marion D'Aurora had a dominating performance in the 1000 Free, finishing with a time of 11:17.44, which was a full 30 seconds ahead of the next competitor. The sophomore also won the 200 Butterfly, clocking in at 2:17.69.
In the 50 Butterfly, Bartrug was the winner clocking in at 28.61.
The women finished off the meet with a win in the 200 Free Relay. The quartet of
Claire Kenna, D'Aurora,
Samantha Mears, and Lewis touched the wall at 1:41.34.
On the men's side,
Jacob Davis had the top performance of the night with three individual wins. Davis took first in the 50 Free with a time of 22.06, the 100 Free (47.68) and the 200 Free touching the wall at 1:48.01.
Zach Baum claimed wins in the 200 Butterfly (2:02.36) and the 100 Individual Medley (53.78).
In the 50 Breaststroke,
Michael Marinchak and
John Martin tied for first place, both clocking in at 28.54.
Finishing up the meet for the Bearcats,
Alex Bolen,
Matt Tashima,
John Martin, and Davis won the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:27.32.
The Bearcats will resume competition in 2018. SVC will face Allegheny College In non-conference action on Jan. 13. The meet will be held in Meadville with a 1 p.m. start.
