SVC rolls past Franklin in regular season finale

FRANKLIN, Ind. (April 30) - The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season with a 17-11 road victory over Franklin College in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference action.

Like they did Saturday, Saint Vincent got off to a fast start, scoring the first five goals of the match. Five different players scored during the run, as Naomi Schwaiger opened the scoring. Hannah Carroll would quickly follow with her 100th career goal to make it 2-0. Maggie Nelson, Katie Stallings and Sarah Wallerstedt would tack on scores to close the run.

After the host Grizzlies scored back-to-back goals to close within 5-2, SVC answered with three straight goals. Courtney Kloos would score off a pass from Nelson to make it 6-2 before Calsey Holshue and Wallerstedt added a goal each to make it 8-2 with 12:33 left in the first half. Both teams scored two goals during the final 9 minutes of the first half. Nelson would score both of the goals for SVC. The Bearcats took a 10-4 advantage into the halftime break.

After Franklin scored the initial goal of the second half, SVC effectively put the game away with the next four goals. Wallerstedt and Kloos would tally another goal each and Stallings would score a pair during the run, which gave SVC a 14-5 advantage with 19:15 to play.

Nelson would add two more goals and Carroll would tally one more down the stretch as the Bearcats closed out the 17-11 win.

Nelson finished the game with a team-high eight points, scoring five goals and adding three assists. Nelson closed the regular season with a single-game program record 79 goals and 118 points.

Wallerstedt tallied three goals and two assists in the game. Stallings added three goals, while Kloos and Carroll each had two goals.
