The Grove City Wolverines ended a 33-game losing streak with an upset win over Saint Vincent, 24-14, in a night game in Mercer County.
The teams traded punts to start the game, but near the midway point of the first,
Cameron Mack forced a fumble after a Grove City pass completion.Â
Hauns White recovered for SVC at the hosts' 37-yard line.

Quarterback
Michael Navarro wasted no time, going to the air on first down and finding
Damon Black Jr for a 37-yard scoring strike.Â
Sam Elliott added the extra point to give the Bearcats a 7-0 lead.
Â
Grove City battled back, keeping the ball for the next 13 plays, but the SVC defense stopped the momentum at the 7-yard line, forcing a 24-yard field goal by Mitch Causer that made the score 7-3.
Â
Early in the second, SVC came up with another turnover, this time on a pass that was batted by a couple of players before
Ben Davis grabbed the interception at midfield.
Â
The Bearcats drove as far as the Wolverines' 22-yard line, but failed to convert on a fourth-down play, turning the ball over on downs.
Â
Grove City then put together a scoring drive, capped by a Wesley Schools 1-yard run. The point after gave the hosts a 10-7 lead.
Â
Two plays later, Navarro was sacked and fumbled, with Grove City recovering on the SVC 6-yard line. However, the Bearcat defense held on a fourth-down from the one-yard line, and the Bearcats took over with less than two minutes remaining in the half. The Bearcats picked up a couple of first downs and the half ended with Grove City in front, 10-7.
Â
SVC got off to a strong start in the third quarter, led by freshman quarterback
Zavion Thompson, who entered the game to start the half. Thompson kept the ball on back-to-back plays, running for 11 and 9 yards. He ended the drive with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Black, putting SVC in front, 14-10.
Â
After both teams traded punts multiple times to fill the rest of the third quarter, Grove City scored early in the fourth on another 1-yard run by Schools. This one completed a 6-play, 46-yard drive and gave the hosts the lead, 17-14.
Â
The Grove City defense then stopped SVC twice, and after the second punt the Wolverines put together another scoring drive, this one covering 46 yards in just four plays. The 2-yard scoring run by Schools came with less than four minutes remaining, and SVC was unable to move the ball on its final drive.
Â
Jhanard Dorsett carried the ball 15 times for the Bearcats, gaining 73 yards. Thompson had 7 carries for 24 yards.
Â
Passing, Navarro completed 9 of 15 passes for 81 yards in the first half, while Thompson went 8-14 for 76 yards. Black caught 9 passes for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns.Â
Dalton Dietrich had 3 catches for 23 yards.
Â
Jean Cherilus led the defense with 10 tackles, while
Izaak Gray had 9 and
Hauns White had 8.Â
Kim Ornis registered 7 tackles, including a sack.
Â
Saint Vincent is now 2-2 overall, 1-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Bearcats will host Case Western in SVC's Homecoming game on Saturday, September 30.Â
