SVC falls short against unbeaten Mount Aloysius, 1-0

LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 25) - An early first half goal helped Mount Aloysius College remain unbeaten and down the Saint Vincent men's soccer team by a 1-0 score in non-conference play at the SVC Turf.

Mount Aloysius tallied the only goal of the contest in the 10th minute of play. After SVC failed to clear the ball from the defensive zone, Zach Davis took the ball uncontested for 10 yards and fired the ball into the back of the net to give the Mounties an early advantage.

Saint Vincent could not capitalize on a few scoring opportunities in the first half and Mount Aloysius ultimately earned the shutout, as they kept the Bearcats at bay in the second half as well.

Juniors Nick Gaudy and Zach D'Amico earned recorded three shots to pace the offense. Senior goalkeeper James Antonoplos stopped six shots in 90 minutes of work in net to keep the Bearcats within striking distance.

The visiting Mounties held a 14-10 shot advantage, including a 7-1 differential on goal. Each team committed 14 fouls in the contest and SVC held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
