BETHANY, W.Va. (Oct. 27) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team couldn't sustain an early lead in a 2-1 road loss to Bethany College to wrap up the 2018 season.
Kristin Marsh opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 15th minute of play. However, the Saint Vincent lead did not last long as the host Bison evened the score at 1-1 when Lexie Metz scored off a pass from Lindsey Cornish in the 17th minute of play.
Cornish found Ashley Duthie to give Bethany a 2-1 lead in the 28th minute. The Bison held that lead into halftime and throughout the second half as both teams could not register a score after the break.
Playing on a rain soaked natural surface at Hoag Field, offense was hard to come by. Both teams recorded just four shots each on the afternoon. The Bison attempted six corner kicks to four for the Bearcats.
Marsh paced the offense with her team-best ninth goal of the season on three shot attempts.
Katie Ryan recorded the other shot for Saint Vincent.
Corinne Burk started in net, working all 90 minutes in her final game for the Green and Gold.
Saint Vincent wraps up the season at 4-12-1 overall and 0-7-1 in PAC play. Bethany finishes at 6-13 overall and 1-7 in the league.
