The SVC men's lacrosse team won its 2018 Ohio River Lacrosse Conference opener with a 6-5, double overtime victory over Grove City College on the road.
Jeremy Kennedy scored the game winner just over a minute into the second 4-minute overtime period to lift the Bearcats to the win.
Frank Casile was credited with the assist on the game-winner.
The game was scoreless for more than 13 minutes of play in the first quarter, before Kennedy got the Bearcats on the board off an assist from
Zach Novelli.  However, the lead lasted just six seconds, as Grove City countered to tie the game 1-1, and the quarter ended with that score.
The Wolverines scored twice just past the midway point of the second quarter to take a 3-1 lead, but
Ben Price brought the Bearcats back within a goal at the half with a score off an
Anthony Hogeback pass to make it 3-2 after 30 minutes of play.
Less than a minute into the third quarter, Kennedy took a pass from
Alex Mueser and scored on a man-up situation, tying the game at 3-3, but it would prove to be the lone goal of the third quarter.
Kennedy's third goal of the game put SVC in front early in the fourth, but the hosts tied the game at the 10:51 mark. Casile scored with 7:45 remaining in regulation to give the Bearcats the lead, but GCC tied the game with less than six minutes remaining, and neither team could score the rest of the way.
In the first overtime, both teams took two shots but neither found the net, setting up Kennedy's fourth and final goal of the night, giving SVC the win.
The Bearcats are now 4-3 overall, 1-0 in the ORLC.  Grove City drops to 1-2 (0-1 ORLC).
