The Bearcat women's bowling team averaged 184 for the day en route to a 3-0 sweep on the road against La Roche University in a match held at Perry Park Lanes in Pittsburgh.
In the first event of the day, a traditional game,
Dani Koehler got the Bearcats off to a quick start, throwing six consecutive strikes. She finished with a team-high 233.
Jessica Guesman shot 194, while
Olivia Emmonds finished with a 184. The Bearcats won by a score of 914-583.
The format then switched to Baker games, as SVC struggled in the first game, shooting 154, holding off La Roche by 13 pins. SVC then fired a 218 game, followed by a 181 and a 216. They finished the series with a team total of 918, winning by 293 pins. In the 216 game, SVC had 7 strikes including three by Koehler, two by
Abby Kyle, and one each by
Lexi Cobbin and
Kayla Grudinsky.
In the final Baker set, SVC started with a 158, then came back with a 203 in game two. After shooting 155 and 170 in the next two games, SVC's Kyle,
Mercedes Belch,
Olivia Emmonds, Guesman and Grudinsky reeled off five strikes in a row, as the team finished with its highest Baker game of the season, a 234. The Bearcats won the set by a score of 920-577.
Meghan Christman led the way in Baker competition, with a per-frame average of 22.3 (game equivalent of 223). Koehler finished with a 19.4 average, while Belch finished at 18.3.
SVC is now 6-0 on the season, and will travel to Erie on Tuesday (October 29) to face Penn State-Behrend.
