Turnovers proved to be costly as the Bearcat football team lost to Washington & Jefferson on the road by a score of 42-10.

The Bearcats moved the ball well on the opening drive, with
David Marshall Jr opening the game with a 9-yard run.  Completions by
Lorenzo Cota to
Andre Dixon for 21 yards and to
Keith Kalp for 29 yards moved the ball to the W&J 20.  However, the drive ended with a quarterback sack on fourth down, as SVC turned the ball over on downs.  Just two plays later, a screen pass from Jacob Adams to Jordan West turned into a 67-yard touchdown, as the hosts took a 7-0 lead with 9:28 left in the first quarter.

Again the Bearcats moved the ball into W&J territory, only to turn the ball over on downs a second time.  After the defense forced a Presidents to attempt a punt, the Bearcats took advantage of a bad snap, as Isaiah Thomas recovered a fumble at the W&J 36.

SVC kept the ball for 8 plays, but the drive stalled at the 7-yard line, and
Nick Srnka hit a 26-yard field goal to make it a 7-3 game just four seconds into the second quarter.

W&J's next drive ended with a
Jeremy Wodarek interception in the end zone, but the W&J defense returned the favor four plays later, as a Cota pass was deflected and intercepted.  Sean Doran returned the pickoff 18 yards to the end zone, putting W&J in front, 14-3.

On the next drive, another turnover turned into a defensive score for W&J, as Cota's throw to
Sam Nowicki behind the line of scrimmage was off the mark, and recovered by Doran, who scampered 48 yards for his second score of the game, making it a 21-3 lead, a score which carried over into the second half.

Late in the third quarter, the Presidents put together a 10-play, 78-yard drive, with a 7-yard run increasing the lead to 28-3.  A pair of touchdown runs later in the fourth made it 42-3, before SVC got its lone touchdown of the day.  Cota hit
Sam Nowicki for a 63-yard touchdown pass, and Srnka added the PAT to close scoring for the day.

Cota went 12-for-21 on the day for 221 yards, with Nowicki catching three passes for 107 yards.
Phil Harding had 4 receptions for 35 yards.  On the ground,
Mike Stasko had 17 carries for 64 yards.  Defensively,
Cam Norris had 9 tackles, while
Austin Kemp had 6.
Izaak Gray recorded 2 sacks.

Saint Vincent is now 2-7 on the season overall, 2-6 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.  W&J improves to 6-2 overall, 4-2 in the conference.

The Bearcats will host Bethany College next Saturday (November 16), to wrap up the 2019 season.  Kickoff at Chuck Noll Field will be at 1:00.
