SVC falls in PAC opener


The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference play on the road against Westminster College. The Bearcats fell to the Titans 20-10.
 
Westminster grabbed an early lead by scoring the first three goals of the game. Saint Vincent responded as Kami Davis netted the first Bearcat goal at the 21:28 mark in the first.
 
The Titans scored two more goals and extended their lead to four, 5-1.
 
Naomi Schwaiger brought Saint Vincent within three as Joey Smith picked up an assist.

Westminster recaptured its four-goal before Courtney Kloos scored and brought the score to 6-3.
 
Kloos scored at the 8:24 mark just after the Titans scored and kept the game within three, 7-4.
 
Westminster scored the final five goals of the first half and led 12-4 going to halftime.
 
The Titans scored the first two goals of the second half and extended their lead to 10.
 
Julianne Rosa scored her first goal of the game at the 25:46 mark in the second. Westminster scored two more goals and led 16-5.
 
Rosa scored two consecutive goals and cut the lead to nine. Schwaiger followed it with her second goal with 20 minutes remaining in regulation.
 
The Titans scored to regain a nine-goal lead. Schwaiger then completed the hat trick at 17:34. Rosa followed with her fourth goal of the game and brought the game to 17-10.
 
Westminster scored the final three goals of the game and won by the final of 20-10.
 
Rosa finished the game with four goals while Schwaiger netted three. Smith finished the game with three assists.
 
Emma Bradley started in net for the Titans, making five saves in the victory. Maria Franey started in net for the first time this season and made 11 saves.
 
Saint Vincent is now 0-4 and returns home for a match against Frostburg State. Start time is 4:00 p.m.
