The Saint Vincent men's tennis team concluded its record-setting season with a 5-2 win over Bethany in the Presidents' Athletic Conference consolation match.
Zach Fox and
Mauricio Sanchez opened up the match with an 8-1 win at second doubles. Bethany struck back with an 8-4 win at first doubles to even the match at 1-1.
Alex DeLuca and
Josh Boland capped doubles play with an 8-2 victory in the third spot.
With a 2-1 lead to start singles,
Jon Oskin captured the first singles point 6-3, 6-1. Shortly after, Boland claimed the sixth singles point, 6-0, 6-1, to extend the Bearcats lead to three. The Bison drew closer with a win at second singles to put the score at 4-2. Fox stormed back from a one set deficit to clinch the match with a win at third singles, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Sanchez and DeLuca left their singles matches unfinished in third sets.
The win puts Saint Vincent's record at 13-4 on the year, adding to a season record for wins.Â
