SVC falls in PAC Playoffs


The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team traveled to Westminster College for its Presidents' Athletic Conference playoff matchup with the Titans. The Bearcats fell 18-8 in the contest.
 
Westminster scored the opening goal 1:18 into the game. Joey Smith tied the game at one with her 22nd goal of the season a couple minutes later.
 
The Titans then scored five-consecutive goals before Naomi Schwaiger scored Saint Vincent's second goal of the game off a Courtney Kloos pass. Schwaiger netted another goal at the 8:29 mark in the first to cut the deficit to three (6-3).
 
The hosts then scored four more goals in a two-minute span. Calsey Holshue got on the score sheet as she scored with 1:34 remaining in the first half. Westminster scored the final goal of the half as it led 11-4.
 
The Titans once again scored the first goal of the half before the Bearcats got on the board. Just under five minutes into the second half, Smith scored a man-down goal with an assist to Kloos. Schwaiger completed the hat trick with a man-down goal of her own as Smith picked up an assist. Rachel Belles concluded the three-straight goals and brought the game to a five-goal margin (12-7).
 
Westminster then scored five-straight for the second time in the game until Kloos scored her first goal of the contest at the 8:46 mark.
 
However, the Titans scored the final goal and won by the 18-8 final.
 
Schwaiger finished the game with three goals and the season with 39. Smith added two goals and an assist while Kloos contributed a goal and two assists.
 
Maria Franey started in net for SVC and made 14 saves while Emma Bradley started in goal for Westminster.
 
Saint Vincent finishes the season 4-8 overall with a 4-3 conference record.
