The Bearcat men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to visiting Shenandoah University in non-conference action at UPMC Field.

Neither team was able to score in the first half, with Shenandoah holding an 8-2 advantage in shots.  SVC's Zachary Gibbons had three saves in the opening 45 minutes.

Just under 10 minutes into the second half, the Hornets got on the board when William Majano set up Chance Hollins for a goal from five yards out, making the score 1-0.  Less than four minutes later, SVC was called for a foul in the box, resulting in a penalty kick.  Majano scored on the attempt, making it a 2-0 game.

In the 72nd minute, another Bearcat foul resulted in a second penalty kick goal by Majano, giving the visitors a 3-1 lead.

The Bearcats got on the board in the 79th minute, when Callum Babbs scored on a direct kick from 15 yards out, bending a shot into the net from a difficult side angle.  It was the freshman's first collegiate goal.

In the closing minutes, Shenandoah added a goal on a close-range shot by Kane Melendez.

Gibbons took the loss in the net, but made 8 saves.  Shenandoah out-shot the Bearcats by a 19-5 margin.

Saint Vincent is now 0-2 on the year, and will host Juniata College on Tuesday (September 3) at 4PM at UPMC Field.
