The Saint Vincent women's soccer team traveled to Pitt-Bradford for a non-conference matchup. The Panthers defeated the Bearcats 2-1 in double overtime.
In the first half Pitt-Bradford dominated play with controlling the ball. The Panthers netted the first goal in the 36th minute as Megan Rose scored off an assist from Cassidy Fenner. Pitt-Bradford held the 1-0 lead going into halftime. SVC was out shot 9-2.Â
In the second half, Pitt-Bradford continued to control play but it was the Bearcats that evened the score at one. Sophomore
Hannah Irvine scored in the 54th with an assist from freshmanÂ
Jessica Persin. Even though SVC was out shot, the game remained tied after the 90th minute.Â
The first overtime period passed with either team getting a shot off. Unfortunately, Pitt-Bradford and Cassidy King scored a goal in the first minute of the second overtime period giving the Panthers the 2-1 win.
Junior
Abigail Johnson started in net for Saint Vincent, making 12 saves in nearly 66 minutes of play. Freshman
Cande Kossel subbed in and played the final 35 minutes in the loss.
Saint Vincent, now 0-5, travels to Frederick, Md. to face Hood College on Saturday, Sept. 21. Start time is 3:30 p.m.
