The Saint Vincent College softball team concluded its 2020 trip to Clermont, Florida on Wednesday. The Bearcats fell in game one to Concordia, 8-5 before dropping its last game to Northland, 7-5.

The Cobblers began the game with a lead-off triple and then scored on the ensuing ground out. Concordia held the 1-0 lead till the fourth where it doubled it with a double down the left field line.

SVC answered in the bottom of the fourth as
Sydney Tressler drew a walk with the bases loaded to bring home
Lauren Miller.
Shae Robson tied the game in the next at-bat with a single through the right side as
Kaylee Ludwick scored.
Justina Sirohman kept the scoring going with as she grounded out to the pitcher but allowed
Kelsey Tobin to score.

In the top of the fifth, the Cobblers reclaimed the lead with three runs, all with two outs. The Bearcats quickly answered in the bottom of the fifth with runners on second and third with two outs. Tobin stepped into the box a drove a ball into center field, bringing home
Mallory Halleck and
Abbey Ginter.

As the game was tied at five all, it looked like the game was destined for extra innings. Concordia had a different idea as it scored three in the top of the seventh with two outs. In the bottom half, Saint Vincent was not able to get anything going and fell by three runs.

Samantha Love started in the circle as she pitched all seven innings, giving up the eight runs on 13 hits with five strikeouts.

Just like in game one, SVC found themselves trailing early as the Jills took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Bearcats answered in the next half inning as Tobin got it started as she reached on an error to allow Robson and Ginter to score.

Johnna Karas then singled to right center to bring home Ludwick and Tobin. Sirhoman capped off the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right as
Riley Assalone tagged from third to give Saint Vincent a 5-1 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth with one out already, a pop-up was dropped on the infield that sparked Northland. In the inning, Northland scored three runs on three hits to pull within one (5-4).

The Jills kept the momentum going in the next inning as they scored three more runs on five hits to take a 7-5 edge. Saint Vincent had runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh but was not able to as it fell by the two-run margin.

Karas went 1-4 in the game but with two RBI as
Jessica Persin collected three hits. Assalone started for SVC, going five innings and giving up seven runs on 10 hits.

Saint Vincent (4-4) returns to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to face Mount Aloysius on Wednesday, March 11. Start time is 3 p.m.
