The Saint Vincent College women's soccer team faced Bethany College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference road matchup. The Bison edged the Bearcats, 2-1.
Saint Vincent (1-2-1, 1-2-1) opened the scoring at the 7:54 mark with a goal from
Tanisha Grewal. The lead stood for the Bearcats until 21:42 when Bethany (1-3, 1-3) Riley Meyers evened the game at one.
Just over 13 minutes later, Meyers found the back of the next again off a pass from Tatiana Drew to give the Bison a 2-1 lead as the game went to halftime.
In the second half, both teams had chances to add to its goal totals but both goalkeepers stood tall. SVC fell by the one-goal margin.
Abigail Johnson made seven saves in the loss for the Bearcats. SVC totaled seven corners compared to just one for Bethany. The Bison out shot Saint Vincent 12-10 (9-7 on goal).
Saint Vincent returns to UPMC Field on Wednesday, April 7 against Geneva College. First kick is slated for 3 p.m.
