Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rosemont tops SVC

ROSEMONT, PA - Andres Mateos Carrion found the back of the net for the Bearcats late in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Saint Vincent dropped a 3-1 road decision at Rosemont College.

The game was evenly contested throughout the first half, with the teams trading scoring chances throughout. With just over three minutes remaining in the first half, and the shots even at nine apiece, the Ravens' Tai Torres broke the scoreless tie with the game's first score.

SVC's Sean Knipp nearly tied it for SVC just 30 seconds into the second half, sending a blast off the post, but less than a minute later, the Ravens took a 2-0 lead on a header off of a corner kick. They would then add an insurance tally in the 61st minute.

The Bearcats were unable to find the scoreboard until the 89th minute, when Mateos Carrion connected for his first goal of the year, a blast from the top of the box, to account for the final 3-1 score.

After an even first half, the Ravens controlled possession for much of the second stanza, out-shooting the Bearcats 13-4 over the final 45 minutes and 23-13 for the game. Joel Quiroz Mansilla, David Rahman and Cory Northrup tied for the SVC team lead with three shots apiece, while Zach Gibbons played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bearcats and recorded seven saves.

Saint Vincent will now have a quick turnaround, as the Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 14, with an 8 p.m. non-conference match at Penn State-Altoona.
