STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 15)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team traveled to Steubenville, Ohio for a PAC match against Franciscan, where the Barons defeated the Bearcats, 2-0.

In the first half, it was a very defensive first 25-minutes. Neither team was able to find the back of the net, as both goalies and defenses remained strong and it remained a 0-0 score.

Franciscan got on the board first at the 30-minute mark. Jonathan Schriner scored for the Barons on an assist by Augustine Rubino, breaking the 0-0 tie and giving Franciscan a 1-0 lead. 1-0 would remain the score heading into the halftime break.

The Bearcats were outshot in the first half by a 7-4 margin in the first half. Both teams made two saves each as well and the Barons recorded five corner kicks to SVC's two. The Bearcats committed just four fouls in the first half, compared to Franciscan's six fouls in the half.

In the second half, the Barons scored the lone goal. About eight minutes into the half, Nick Miller found the back of the net on a penalty kick, increasing the Barons lead to 2-0. The 2-0 lead would hold for the remaining 37-minutes of the half, as the Barons came away with the 2-0 win.

Franciscan outshot the Bearcats 8-6 in the second half and 15-10 in the game. The Bearcats recorded three shots on goal in comparison to seven from Franciscan. The Barons tallied 10 corner kicks and the Bearcats recorded just three corners' in the game. Fouls were fairly even throughout the match as SVC committed eight and Franciscan committed three.

Erwin Suarez tallied two shots on goal in the game for Saint Vincent.
David Rahaman added one shot on goal as well.
Marko Kasiyan recorded one shot and
Kevin Amouzou compiled two shots off the bench for the Bearcats.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, October 18, playing host to Allegheny College in a PAC match. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at UPMC Field.
