PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Feb. 9) - After leading the Bearcats to a perfect 8-0 weekend, Saint Vincent sophomore
Monique Koehler has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Bowler of the Week.
Koehler (Rockledge, Fla./Rockledge) averaged 203.3 over the two-day AMCC Round Robin in Bradford, Pennsylvania, during which the Bearcats swept eight matches to earn the top seed in the upcoming conference championship playoffs. The 203.3 average was the highest among all competitors, as she had a strike percentage of 53.3 (32-for-60) and a first-ball average of 9.08. On Saturday against Pitt-Greensburg, Koehler bowled a career-best 232, then surpassed it less than 24 hours later with a 236 game in Sunday's win over New Jersey City University. Along with leading all bowlers in the tourney in overall scoring, she also topped the field in first ball average, fill percentage and strike percentage.
This marks the fourth time this season that a Bearcat bowler has earned the weekly AMCC honor, while it's the first such award of Koehler's career.
The Bearcats face a busy weekend ahead, as they will host Penn State-Behrend and Daemen on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Latrobe's Lincoln Lanes, before welcoming six teams to Latrobe for Sunday's Br. Patrick Lacey, O.S.B., Memorial Tournament, named in honor of the first varsity bowling coach in Saint Vincent history.
