WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 25) - In a rain-shortened Presidents' Athletics Conference opener. the Saint Vincent men's tennis team rolled to a 5-0 win over Waynesburg.
The freshman-senior pairing of Matthew Sadusky and Aaron Kuhn got the Bearcats on the board first with an 8-1 win at third doubles. SVC secured the remaining doubles points with matching 8-3 wins at both the first and second positions.
Evan Ray and Jack Citrone pushed the Bearcats through to the victory. First off the court was Ray, with a 6-0, 6-0 win, at sixth singles. Citrone fought through a few early breaks to capture the final nine games of the match and win 6-3, 6-0 in the five hole.
With the match clinched at 5-0 the teams decided to surrender to the elements and the remaining matches were abandoned with SVc leading by a set in all four.
The win snaps Saint Vincent three match losing streak and puts the team's record at 5-3 (1-0 PAC) on the year. SVC will return to action on Sunday, March 27, for a road match against DeSales at 12:30 p.m.
