LATROBE, Pa (Sept. 11)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team had a quick turnaround, falling short to Penn State- New Kensington 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Saint Vincent controlled most of the game on the offensive side of the ball, outshooting the Lions 25-9, outshooting them 15-4 in the first half and 10-5 in the second half. Penn State- New Kensington goalie, Andrew Haus remained strong in the net, allowing just the one goal from SVC.

The Bearcats had the ball in their offensive end for the early portions of the first half but were unable to capitalize on a couple scoring opportunities. At about the 20-minute mark of the first half, the Lions broke the 0-0 tie, as Jordan Cooper scored, giving Penn State- New Kensington a 1-0 lead.

Saint Vincent continued to apply pressure on the offensive end the rest of the first half, but once again the Lions defense stood strong holding the 1-0 lead. With just two-minutes to go in the half, PSNK scored once again, this time Austin Arnold scored to give the Lions a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

The Bearcats wouldn't go down without a fight, as they found the scoreboard early in the second half, as
David Rahaman scored to get them on the board about 15-minutes into the half. Rahaman's goal was assisted by
Jose Hurtado who kicked a shot off of the goalie, and the ball bounced right to Rahaman, as SVC cut the Lions lead in half at 2-1.

SVC continued to keep the ball in their offensive end and had a couple opportunities to score, but none found the back of the net. Despite having opportunities to score and the defense holding strong against the Lions, Penn State-New Kensington still came away with the slight 2-1 victory.

Along with Rahaman, Hurtado had the one shot on goal which led to his assist.
Joel Quiroz Mansilla had two shots on goal as well, and
Eduardo Richa added one shot on goal.
Antonio Mendes also had a shot on goal for the Bearcats.

Austin Syfert got the start in net, playing the entirety of the first half, giving up both of the Lions goals, while also making one save.
Shane Piper played in goal in the second half for Saint Vincent, shutting out the Lions, while making four saves.

The Bearcats had 13 fouls as a team in the game, compared to just seven from the Lions.

Saint Vincent will return to action on Wednesday, September 14 when they play host to Penn State-Altoona. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at UPMC field.
