MCCANDLESS, Pa (Sept. 16)- The Saint Vincent women's soccer team used a big second half to pick up their second win in a row, defeating La Roche, 2-1 on Friday evening. After a tie at the halftime break, Saint Vincent scored two goals in the second half to secure the victory.

SVC outshot the Redhawks 21-3 in the game, outshooting them 9-1 in the first half and following it up with a 12-2 second half. Tanisha Grewal and Jessica Persin scored the goals for Saint Vincent.

Saint Vincent controlled most of the first half in their offensive end. The Bearcats had opportunities to score but the La Roche defense held strong, shutting out Saint Vincent in the first half.

The Bearcats defense was strong as well, limiting the Redhawks to just one shot in the entirety of the first half.

In the second half, SVC continued to pressure La Roche on the offensive end, and that's when Grewal found the back of the net to break the 0-0 tie. Grewal's goal was unassisted, scoring just over 13 minutes into the second half.

SVC wasn't done yet, Persin scored about 10-minutes after Grewal to increase the Bearcats lead to 2-0. Persin's goal was unassisted.

Both teams remained strong defensively in the late portions of the second half, but La Roche would not go away quietly. With four minutes to go in the second half the Redhawks scored, as Victoria Biagetti found the back of the net, cutting into the Saint Vincent lead at 2-1.

In the remaining four minutes of the game, neither team was able to score, as the Bearcats came away with the 2-1 win.
