Speretta Scores Game Winner to Push SVC Past Bethany

BETHANY, W.V. (Oct. 7)- Mattia Speretta's late goal in the 87th minute lifted the Bearcats to a 1-0 PAC win at Bethany on Saturday afternoon.
 
The goal for Speretta was his fourth of the season and third game-winning goal of the season for Saint Vincent.
 
Other than Speretta, Kelvin Aguilar-Contreras recorded two shots, including one shot on goal. Antonio Mendes recorded the only other shot on goal in the game for SVC.
 
Kameron Rock was strong in net for the Bearcats, recording the shutout victory, making five saves.
 
It was an evenly played first half as both teams had scoring opportunities but neither was able to capitalize. Both teams recorded three shots on goal in the opening half. Both teams also made two saves in the half as well.
 
Bethany recorded the lone two corner kicks in the half. Both teams recorded six fouls in the half as well.
 
The majority of the second half was similar to the first half. Speretta's late goal was the lone goal of the game and the difference maker in the 87th minute to give SVC their second conference win.
 
Bethany outshot Saint Vincent 4-2 in the second half, outshooting the Bearcats 7-5 in the game, including five shots on goal compared to three by Saint Vincent.
 
Saint Vincent totaled just one corner kick in the match, compared to seven by the Bison. The Bearcats committed 14 fouls compared to 12 by Bethany.
 
The win moves Saint Vincent to 6-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 in President's Athletic Conference play.
 
The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, October 7 with a home match against Thiel. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at UPMC Field, the first ever night game hosted at UPMC Field.
