ORLANDO, Fla. (March 5) – The Saint Vincent men's tennis team opened up its spring slate with a match against Saint John's University (Minn.) on the clay courts at the USTA National Training Center.
The Johnnies earned a 9-0 win.
Saint John's took a 3-0 lead with a trio of doubles wins, with the SVC No. 3 doubles tandem of
J.T. Gockel and
Kyle Murray dropping a narrow 8-7 (7-4) decision.
The Johnnies would go on to sweep the six singles matches, with sophomore
Jack Citrone falling by a 6-3, 7-5 score in the No. 2 spot.
The Bearcat will be back on action at the USTA National Training Center on Thursday evening, taking on Northwestern (Minn.) under the lights at 6 p.m.
